Goodbye London … Hello Cobham and Oxshott
The migration of the ‘London affluent’ to Cobham has stepped up a gear, according to Guy Leaning, Partner at estate agency Chewton Rose in Cobham
He says: “With stellar London house prices, we are seeing many more ‘London affluent’ buyers here who have cashed-in on their good fortune.”
House prices in England increased by 9.7% in the year to February but rose 17.7% in London, according to the Office for National Statistics. In some capital hot spots, annual rises are nearer to 30%. In London the average house price is £458,000 and rising.
With many three-bedroom apartments in the West End and Docklands worth £2-3 million, understandably people are keen to swap a flat for a magnificent old vicarage, manor house, modern barn conversion or idyllic country cottage in Cobham
Says Guy: “We’re meeting buyers who have lived and worked for many years, if not all their lives in London.
“Some are retiring and perhaps wanting to be closer to family and others have new-found flexibility to commute to the capital just a day or two a week.
“What unites them all is the ‘win-win’ of being able to buy a better home, enjoy a better lifestyle and have a lot of spare cash to enjoy.”
Typical of the buyers finding a new start in Cobham are – insert details and images.
