01 Name

Ed Mead

02 Job title

Executive Director
Douglas & Gordon
Head office in Pimlico

03 Where do you live?

Wandsworth Common and Dorset

04 How long have you been in London?

Thirty-five years.

05 Preferred mode of transport

Motorbike, but councils seem to be doing their best to starve us of bike parking. If you want to get things done, get a motorbike.

06 Favourite London view

Up and down the Thames from any bridge, preferably from my bike. Or standing in the middle of Cadogan Square Gardens - it could be 1860.

07 Ideal weekend in London

Getting out - preferably to Dorset. Where I live you can’t hear a thing, perfect. But if not then spending time in Richmond Park with Snoopy, my Jack Russell, is a reasonable substitute.

08 Favourite restaurant

Como Lario in Chelsea, which NEVER changes, or Galvin at Windows on top of Park Lane’s London Hilton – it has staggering views and fabulous food.

09 I’ve always meant to…

Beat my best mate’s time round the Nürburgring on a bike. To be one second adrift on an eight minute, 30 second lap is galling.

10 The best thing about my patch

Thirty-five years in Chelsea and I still learn something new every day - I love discovering a street name I didn’t know or finding a hidden house. Chelsea was never built as an upmarket area and is essentially low-key, but seeing the change in demographic with an influx of stylish Europeans proves that not everyone wants a show-off property, and I like that.
