Century 21, a global real estate brand with its sights set on the UK, is moving into the vibrant central London property market. The new Westminster office of Century 21 is located opposite the Royal Mews on Buckingham Palace Road and has been building up speed since August this year for a full launch on 18th October.
Paul Corcut, Director of the Westminster office, is no stranger to the market having traded property within the area for years. The real strength of his team, however, lies in their international experience. Both Corcut and associate Jeremy Gordon have strong international links. Corcut is a former banker and a Russia specialist, while Gordon has a focus on China. Both have had experience working with UK Trade & Investment, the government’s trade promotion arm, and are also directors of an emerging markets consultancy. Their understanding of international business and banking will help investors get the best out of their property.
It might not be the most familiar brand in the UK, yet, but Century 21 is the world’s largest residential estate agency organisation with a franchise network comprising over 7,100 broker offices and 100,000 agents in 74 countries. It all started in California in 1971; the network now has franchised offices throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. Century 21 opened its first offices in the UK in 2005; earlier this year the master franchise for the UK was bought by Shepherd Direct Ltd, which plans to rapidly accelerate the growth of the brand within the UK.
“Our strengths are the internationalism of Century 21 combined with our professionalism,” says Director Paul Corcut. In an area with a high proportion of international buyers (around 45 to 62 per cent of London’s most desirable areas are owned by high net worth individuals from abroad) a strong brand overseas is a real advantage.” Just a few weeks after our office opened in August we had a call from San Francisco,” says Corcut, “I asked how they had heard of us, and they said, simply: ‘you’re Century 21!’ I believe the brand will be a real advantage in this market.”
Additionally the team’s own experience will play an important role. “It’s one thing to be able to list a property in Russian,” explains Corcut, “we have the cultural knowledge to understand how people want to be treated as well.”
Local business, global network
As a franchise each office is independently owned and operated, giving clients the benefit of working with a local business within the structure of a global brand.
Global property portal
All Century 21 UK branches also have their properties listed on the new Century 21 Global international property portal – century21global.com – where they can be accessed by buyers all over the world. The largest of its kind in the world, the portal has hundreds of thousands of properties listed and gives a considerable competitive edge to London based offices seeking to offer their properties to international purchasers.
